Henty Machinery Field Days has a new after-hours event for growers and agronomists this year.

Henty Machinery Field Days has a new after-hours event for growers and agronomists this year, with the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) and New South Wales Department of Primary Industry (DPI) hosting a special Research Update on Wednesday, September 20.

GRDC senior regional manager Jan Edwards said topics will include timely information on cereal diseases, canola agronomy and crop nutrition, all specifically focused on the local region and its growing conditions.

‘‘The Research Update will give local growers the chance to hear the latest information from NSW’s leading researchers during their formal presentations and offer them an opportunity to speak with them directly during complimentary drinks and refreshments,’’ she said.

‘‘We know growers are very keen to hear more about the research aimed at addressing their local priorities and concerns, and Henty Machinery Field Days are the perfect chance for us to provide that insight,’’ Ms Edwards said.

Attendees can expect a comprehensive presentation by NSW DPI research and development agronomist Rohan Brill on canola agronomy, while NSW DPI pathologist Dr Kurt Lindbeck will take the gathering through broadleaf pathology issues relevant to the region.

‘‘Rohan and Kurt are among DPI’s leading researchers in southern NSW, and I strongly encourage local growers to attend,’’ Ms Edwards said.

‘‘By taking part growers, advisers and industry representatives can access high quality information and practical take-home advice from experts in their respective fields.

‘‘The GRDC is pleased to return to Henty with NSW DPI as the collaboration ensures attending growers will be able to satisfy any questions they have, or provide valuable input into future local research needs.’’

The GRDC site is at number 887888 in row R on Fourth Farm Avenue.

The Research Update will be held on-site from 5pm, with complimentary refreshments available.
